BIM, November 2011 - Nick Eglinton, our CAD Manager, attended the BIM Show Live was a gathering of 300+ people where presentations and discussions took place about the current status of BIM in the industry. The majority of companies within the industry were represented from all disciplines and speakers included David Philp, head of BIM implementation for the Cabinet Office.

BCO, October 2011 - Gareth, Seamus and Des attended the BCO Awards 2011 at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

MIPIM, March 2011 - Gareth and Seamus attended MIPIM 2011 in Cannes, representing Davies Maguire + Whitby for the first time. While both are seasoned veterans of the annual gathering, this year was particularly exhilarating as the practice was successfully launched on the world stage.

Cityscape, October 2011 - Mark attended Cityscape Global at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Dubai, UAE.

Mercers Road, London - Davies Maguire + Whitby have provided structural engineering design services for an extension to an existing terraced house in Tufnell Park, North London. This residential project required foundation and superstructure design for  a single storey to the rear of the property, which also required transfer structure to enable significant removal of the existing building fabric to fully open out the floor space. Construction information was developed on a fast-track programme, with Client input, in readiness for planning submission.

Bratislava - Davies Maguire + Whitby were appointed by Peter Hay on behalf of MACE to carry out a structural inspection of a building in Bratislava. A site visit was carried out on a fast-track programme with a summary report completed to advise on existing structural condition and the recommended strengthening works.

Milson Road, London - Working with Nick Willson Architects, Davies Maguire + Whitby have completed the structural design for converting existing Mansard roof loft space into a bedroom and bathroom living space at adjacent properties in the West Kensington area of London. This was carried out on a fast-track programme to meet planning submission deadlines for the Client.

Wallgrave Road, London - Working with Squire and Partners, Davies Maguire + Whitby have provided structural engineering on structural alterations to extend an existing three-storey Victorian terraced house in London SW5. New steel framing will be installed to create the one-storey extension to the rear of the property and to support existing load-bearing walls above to open up the floor space.

Retail in Gravesend - We are working on a project to combine and reconfigure existing retails units in Gravesend. We carried out a fast response appraisal of the existing structure, including site visit and review of available existing information. We then prepared a report identifying the necessary structural details in order to achieve the desired result.

Blakes Golf Course in North Weald Bassett, Essex was the venue for the inaugural Autumn Green Jacket, which was eventually won by Gareth in a close run competition. The weather was fantastic and the course was in great condition for the time of year so there were no excuses. Roll on the Spring competition!
